ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Brat Bonnet is a vintage-style hat with a checkerboard pattern. It is knit back and forth using the intarsia technique. Start by knitting the strap, then move on to the body of the bonnet, and finish with the second strap. This pattern is suitable for intermediate-level knitters.
MEASUREMENTS
The measurements are provided on the diagram page 4.
YARNS AND MATERIALS
Approx. 40 g of Fluff from Hipknitshop (80 % Kid Mohair, 11 % Merino Wool, 9 % Polyamide / 50 g = 100 m)
If you wish to knit it in two colors like the one in the photos above, you will need one ball of each of the colors listed below:
Color A: Neon Lights
Color B: Black is Back
Circular or double pointed needles 3.5 mm [ US4/ 20 cm ] – to knit the straps
Circular needles 3.5 mm [ US4/ 40 cm ] – to knit the bonnet
Tapestry needle
GAUGE
Gauge: 18 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Stockinette stitch, on needlesize 3.5 mm
Make a swatch to achieve the same gauge as indicated above. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size.
