2 rows/rounds in stockinette stitch using Peer Gynt and Wow! Fluffy held together on needle size 8 mm.
Throughout the project, you will need to switch needle sizes, to make the task easier, you can use interchangeable needles if you have them.

GAUGE
Neckline pre-blocked gauge : 22 sts x 32 rows =10 x 10 cm in Twisted Rib, on needle size 3.75 mm
Neckline post-blocked gauge : 23 sts x 30.5 rows =10 x 10 cm in Twisted Rib, on needle size 3.75 mm
Average body post-blocked gauge: 13.75 sts x 19 rows =10 x 10 cm in ‘’ Pattern’’, on needle size 4 and 8 mm

NOTE: To measure your stitch gauge: measure the stitches on the knitted portion with Peer Gynt yarn on 4 mm needles (15.5 sts = 10 cm in my swatch), measure the stitches knitted with Peer Gynt + Wow! Fluff held together on 8 mm needles (12 sts = 10 cm in my swatch).
Add your measurements and then divide the result by 2 (15.5 + 12 = 27.5 / 2 = 13.75). The average gauge is therefore
13.75 sts = 10 cm.

Whip up a pawsome beanie for your fur-tastic friend with this free knitting recipe!

ABOUT THE PATTERN
Leon Easy Beanie is the must-have accessory to make your dog even cuter than they already are.
It is worked in garter stitch back and forth on either straight or circular needles. Start your work with a long tail cast-on then continue back and forth until you reach the end. Finally, sew the side edges together and finish by creating a seam on the top of the hat.

SIZES AND MEASUREMENTS
To knit the Leon Easy Beanie tailored to your pup, you’ll need to:
A. Measure the space between your dog’s ears on the forehead.
B. Measure the width of the base of their ears.
C. Measure the space between their ears at the back of the neck.
D. Measure the height between the back of the neck and the top of the head.
F. Measure the ears height from its base to the highest point at the top of the head.
Leon’s measurements: A: 21 cm – B: 2 cm – C: 8 cm – D: 10 cm – F: 5 cm

YARNS AND MATERIALS
Approx. 40 g of leftover yarns. The following yarns were used in the pattern: Peer Gynt from Sandness Garn – Cahlista from Scheepjes – Fine Merino (in double stranding) from Majo Garn.
NOTE: In this pattern, different yarn thicknesses are used. To achieve approximately the same thickness, I occasionally knitted with two strands held together and at other times with a single strand.
Straight of circular needles 4 mm 60 cm
Double pointed or circular needles 3.5 mm
French knitter: Prym 624181 Comfort Twist. Optional, but I highly recommend using the french knitter to make straps. It’s very quick and the result is much prettier than hand-knitting. Instructions for hand knitting i-cord straps will also be given below.
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
20 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Garter Stitch on needle size 4 mm.
Make a swatch to achieve the same gauge as indicated above. Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size.
