ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Ada Bikini Bottom is worked from the bottom up in garter stitch on circular needles.
It is knit using Lycra yarn, a highly elastic fiber specifically designed for activewear and swimwear. This means you can safely swim in your finished bikini top.
Please note: This pattern is designed to be used exclusively with Chamade Knitwear’s Lycra yarn. Substituting with any
other yarn is not recommended and will not produce the intended fit or functionality.
This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters.

SIZES
2XS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 2XL (3XL)
Sizes above correspond with the following measurements :
Hips Circumference:
82-84 (86-90) 90-94 (94-98) 98-102 (102-106) 106-110 (110-114) cm.
Measure your own hips circumference to determine which size will fit you the best.
Photos above: I’m wearing size 2XS / 168 cm tall / Hips: 84 cm

MEASUREMENTS
The Ada Bikini Bottom has approximately 31 cm of negative ease. Meaning it is approx 31 cm smaller in circumference than your actual hips circumference. The negative ease may seem extreme at first glance. Keep in mind that the yarn is
highly elastic and stretches significantly when worn.

YARNS AND MATERIALS
Approx.150 (150) 190 (190) 190 (210) 210 (210) m of CONTREPOINT N°1 from Chamade Knitwear (73% polyamid, 27% Lycra)
Except for the Lime color, the other two colors used for this design are no longer available.

ABOUT THE PATTERN
The 80’s Bodysuit is knitted from the bottom up in stockinette stitch. Start with the bottom, then move on to the front, followed by the straps, and finally, the edging. The 80’s Bodysuit is knitted in double stranding.
This design is suitable for intermediate-level knitters.

SIZES
XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL
Sizes above correspond with the following measurements :
Chest Circumference:
78-82 (82-86) 86-94 (94-102) 102-110 (110-118) 118-126 cm
Waist Circumference:
58-63 (64-69) 70-75 (76-80) 81-85 (86-90) 91-95 cm
Hips Circumference:
86-90 (91-95) 96-100 (101-105) 106-110 (111-115) 116-120 cm
Measure your own chest, waist and hips circumference to determine which size will fit you the best.

If your measurements correspond to different sizes, prioritize the hip measurement when choosing your size. However, if there is a significant difference between your bust and hip measurements, it is not recommended to knit this design.
For example, if your hips correspond to a size S and your bust to a size M, that should not be an issue. But if your hips are a size S and your bust is a size XL, unfortunately, I think it would be better not to knit this bodysuit. This piece is designed to fit very close to the body, and such a size difference would not complement your lovely silhouette.
Photos above: I’m wearing size XS / 168 cm tall / Chest: 82 cm – Waist: 66.5 cm – Hips: 87 cm

MEASUREMENTS
The bodysuit has a negative ease of about 5 cm at the bust and approx15 cm at the hips. Meaning it is 5 and 15 cm smaller in circumference than your bust and hip measurements.
The measurements are provided on the diagram at the end of the pattern.

YARN AND MATERIALS
Approx. 150 (150) 200 (200) 250 (250) 300 g of Lino Muka from WOLLEN BERLIN (100% linen, 50 g = 245 m)
TIPS: This linen from Wollen Berlin is truly beautiful and comfortable to wear, but it has no elasticity. I chose this yarn because I live in a region with very hot summers, and I wouldn’t be able to wear a bodysuit made of cotton or merino.
However, for greater comfort, I recommend knitting the bodysuit in merino instead. Merino will better conform to your body’s shape and, most importantly, be much more comfortable than linen.
Circular needles 2.5 mm [ 80 cm ]
Circular needles 2.5 mm [ 100 or 120 cm ]
Circular needles 3 mm [ 80 cm ]
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
PANTIE
The pantie is knitted back and forth in double stranding, using 2.5 mm needles for the wrong side rows and 3 mm needles for the right side rows. Since the Lino Muka yarn is irregular, I don’t get the same gauge depending on where I measure, so the following gauge is an average.
To calculate the average gauge, measure the stitches and rows in several spots, then add up the measurements and divide by the number of measurements taken.
Here are the measurements I found by measuring at different spots on the bottom:
STITCHES: 21.5 + 20.5 + 20 + 20 + 23 + 22 + 20 = 147, 147/7 = 21 sts
ROWS: 33 + 33 + 36 + 34 + 31 + 33 + 34.5 = 234.5, 234.5/7 = 33.5 rows

PANTIE AVERAGE POST BLOCKING GAUGE: 21 sts x 33.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on needle sizes 3 mm (RS rows) +
2.5 mm (WS rows), in double stranding.
Wash and block your swatch.

BODY IN THE ROUND
A part of the bodysuit is knitted in the round in double stranding using 3 mm [ 80 cm ] circular needles.
The gauge for this section is as follows:
BODY POST BLOCKING GAUGE: 21 sts x 40 r = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on needle sizes 3 mm, in double stranding.
Wash and block your swatch.

BODY BACK AND FORTH
From the waist to the straps, the body is knitted in stockinette stitch back and forth, using 2.5 mm and 3 mm circular needles. The gauge for this section should be the same as that of the pantie, but since I stretched the pantie more than the upper body, the post-blocking gauge is as follows:

UPPER BODY POST BLOCKED GAUGE: 21 sts x 41 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on needle sizes 3 mm (RS rows) +
2.5 mm (WS rows), in double stranding.

With all these different gauges, it’s easy to feel a bit lost. Gauge depends not only on how each person knits but also on how we block our work. Before blocking, the average gauge measured across the entire bodysuit was: 22.5 stitches x 38 rows = 10 cm. If you can’t match the previously mentioned gauges, use the pre-blocking gauge as your guide and try to get as close as possible to the measurements indicated in the diagram at the end of the pattern to adjust the fit of your bodysuit
